Imran Khan stops Justice Wajihuddin from further decisions

Summary Respect Justice Wajihuddin's decisions but nobody is allowed to go beyond mandate, says Chairman PTI

ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has on Tuesday stopped Justice (r) Wajihuddin Ahmed from giving further decisions on behalf of the tribunal. He has said that party respects Wajihuddin Ahmed as an elder member of the party but nobody can be allowed to go beyond the mandate, reported Dunya News.

In his letter to Justice (r) Wajihuddin Ahmed, Chairman PTI has said that PTI is the only party to have held intraparty elections. The letter states that the election tribunal’s one-point agenda was to inquire electoral rigging complaints. It stated that the party accepted tribunal’s report on the election petitions and its recommendation to hold the intraparty elections again after which the tribunal was dissolved.

However, the letter goes on, Justice (r) Wajihuddin continued to make decisions from the platform of this already dissolved tribunal which was beyond its mandate. Wajihuddin Ahmed has been told to stop making further decisions. Imran Khan’s letter says that he respects Wajihuddin Ahmed as a senior member of the party but nobody can be allowed to exceed the limits of his mandate. He said that he will continue to take necessary measures for saving the party.

On the other hand, Imran Khan has also announced a 70-member Central Advisory Council. This council will give suggestions to the chairman on party matters and political issues. The council includes Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar, Jehangir Tareen, Ejaz Chaudhry, Hamid Khan, Naeemul Haque, Arif Alvi, Asad Umar, Pervez Khattak, Saifullah Niazi and others.
