ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Senate has on Monday accepted the adjournment motion on Director General (DG) Rangers Sindh’s statement for discussion. Senator Farhatullah Babar has said that by admitting corruption worth Rs. 230 billion, DG Rangers has accepted his failure in Karachi, reported Dunya News.
Adjournment motion was presented by Farhatullah Babar of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in the Senate session held under the chairmanship of Senator Raza Rabbani. The motion stated that Rangers had been brought into Karachi for just 4 months but it’s been 4 years now. It stated that the Rangers have unlimited powers under the PPA. “People are disappearing in Karachi and Rangers are admitting that tey have failed. After two years, they are saying that there is corruption worth Rs. 230 billion in Karachi”, says the adjournment motion.
Farhatullah Babar demanded an inquiry to determine ‘whether the Rangers is incompetent or party to the crime along with the mafia’.
Chairman Senate Raza Rabbani accepted the adjournment motion for discussion. The house will discuss the motion on Wednesday.
In his attention notice, PPP’s Senator Saeed Ghani said that Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had revealed in a press conference that the Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) ‘Save the Children’ was involved in anti-Pakistan activities while it has now been allowed to work. How everything got right overnight, he wondered.
Finance Minister responded by saying that the US-based NGO’ office in Islamabad was still sealed but its provincial offices were working. He said that an inter-ministerial committee has been formed on the issue of NGOs.
Senate’s next meeting will now be conducted on Tuesday morning.
