Summary Pervez Khattak said that a white paper would be published on the local body elections
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Chief Minister (CM) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Pervez Khattak has offered to conduct re-elections in the province. He said that the decision to conduct re-elections will be taken after consultations with other parties, reported Dunya News on Wednesday.
CM KP Pervez Khattak said that all political parties are crying foul over recent local body elections.
He said that final decision regarding re-election would be taken after consultation adding that KP government is ready for formation of new Judicial Commission and Joint Investigation Team.
Pervez Khattak said that a white paper would be published on the local body elections which would bare all facts in front of public.
Outlining KP governments plan for holding the local body elections, Pervez Khattak said that he had requested a contingent of Army for holding the local body elections adding that elections would not have been held if he had known that Army troops would not be provided.
Refuting the claim that KP government was involved in rigging, CM KP said that he himself was a complainant of the proceedings as late arrival of staff at polling stations, shortage of papers and stamps hindered the voting process. Lack of training of staff was also a factor, said Pervez Khattak.
Answering a question, CM KP said that action would be taken against Deputy Inspector General (DIG) police for releasing Ali Amin Gandapur. Accusations have been leveled against Gandapur, he said, and if proven then he would no longer remain a provincial minister.
Provincial Finance Minister Mian Muzaffar Syed, belonging to Jamat-e-Islami (JI), was also seen talking at the event and talking contrary to his party’s line.
