Summary He insisted there are no political motives behind arrest of ANP leader Mian Iftikhar
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Sunday said that the arrangements for local body elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) were Election Commission’s responsibility, adding that provincial government will go for re-election if rigging took place.
He said KP police is independent and authorized, adding that there are no political motives behind Awami National Party (ANP) leader Mian Iftikhar’s arrest.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Khan said that tribunals should be established to examine complaints of rigging that would pronounce verdicts in one month instead of four.
He said PTI has no role in Mian Iftikhar’s arrest, adding that the police is authorized and are conducting independent investigation.
PTI chairman said that KP police is not the Sindh police that are used to target people and for political purposes.
“People know who is serving the religion and who is using it for personal gains in this country”, he said.
Khan said that NADRA chairman has pressure from the federal government owing to which, he said, NADRA chairman has gone abroad.
He urged Election Commission to follow through with NA 122 verdict.
