Ex-CJ defamation case: Court reserves judgement on Babar Awan

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – A local court in Islamabad on Saturday has reserved its verdict on the objection plea filed against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan’s lawyer Babar Awan, Dunya News reported.

According to details, the hearing of former Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry’s defamation and compensation claim case against Imran Khan was conducted by district and session judge Tanveer Mir.

Assistant of Khan’s counsel Babar Awan, Syed Khawar Bukhari appeared before the court.

Ex-CJP’s counsel Sheikh Ahsanuddin stated that Babar Awan is biased against Iftikhar Chaudhry whereas he has also not submitted any reply yet on the objection plea filed against him by the plaintiff.

On court’s inquiry, the defense counsel repeated his stance that sessions court is not authorised to hold hearing of any compensation claim which is more than Rs one crore.

The court after hearing arguments of both sides reserved its verdict which is likely to be announced today.
