KARACHI (Dunya News) – Karachi police chief Ghulam Qadir Thebo on Sunday said that four more suspects of Safoora Chowrangi carnage have been arrested after retrieving information from the already arrested accused, Dunya News reported.

Addressing a news conference at Karachi office, Thebo said that four more accused in the Safoora carnage that left scores of Ismaili community killed and several wounded have been arrested.

He told the press that the suspects are being investigated for several high profile targeted killings.

He said heavy cache of illegal weapons has been recovered from arrested security guards and supporters of former Home Minister of Sindh Zulfiqar Mirza.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Feroz Shah alleged that the weapons recovered is stolen from NATO containers, adding that those arrested would have worsened law and order situation in the city by firing at the citizens had they not been arrested.

During the press conference, the journalists protested against the torture on journalists that took place outside Sindh High Court on Saturday.

The Karachi police chief assured the journalists that legal action will be taken against those involved in the incident.
