Summary 18 heavy duty generators have been stolen from 22 containers of the ASAF
KARACHI: (Dunya News) – Equipment worth USD 3 million including 18 heavy duty containers have been stolen from 22 NATO containers carrying ASAF forces’ equipment from Afghanistan through Pakistan. Customs have started investigations of the matter after registering the case, reported Dunya News.
NATO forces are drawing back from Afghanistan in phases and so is their equipment. 18 heavy duty containers and other equipment in NATO forces’ use was being carried by reverse containers from Afghanistan to Karachi from where the luggage had to be carried to Dubai. Details of the equipment were submitted at Barra Market Peshawar according to which the equipment was worth 3 million dollars.
Containers were brought to Karachi port where Directorate General of Transit Trade inspected the containers, raiding Pakistan International Container Terminal to find out that 22 containers were empty.
Customs started investigations after registering the case. According to information, images of the containers were taken when they were full of equipment while leaving Afghanistan. Therefore, it is suspected that the material was stolen somewhere between Torkham and Karachi.
