Govt to hold high-level meeting to review evidence of RAW's involvement in terror acts

Summary The government suspects that RAW is involved in terrorist activities in Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The federal government has decided to summon a high-level meeting to review evidence regarding Indian intelligence agency RAW`s involvement in terror activities in Pakistan, the Interior Ministry sources told on Saturday.

According to sources, involvement of Daesh in Safoora Chowrangi carnage could not be confirmed yet. Several arrests have been made after the incident however no link with Daesh has been found.

The government has also decided to launch a diplomatic level campaign against RAW) for sabotaging peace in Pakistan.

The decision has been taken two days after terrorists stormed a bus near Karachi`s Safoora Chowrangi and killed 45 members of Ismaili community.

According to sources, the authorities have decided to present evidence of RAW`s involvement to the United Nations and diplomats of all the major countries. Evidence regarding terrorists training camps and RAW s support to extremists will also be presented.

Earlier on Friday, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif visited ISI HQ in Islamabad.

When briefed on pre-empting a number of terrorist acts and successful intelligence-based operations, the Army Chief appreciated the agency`s role in preventing numerous terrorist acts.

He said that most of the achievements and successes of intelligence agencies go unnoticed but their accomplishments for the defence of the country are phenomenal which deserve due recognition and acknowledgment

General Raheel Sharif emphasised the need for more proactive and coordinated role of intelligence agencies for an effective counter terrorism campaign and to counter hostile agencies’ moves to destabilize Pakistan.

COAS also emphasized the need to further coordinate and synergise a combined civ-military intelligence effort at national level by providing all agencies requisite support and ever developing modern intelligence techniques.
