Summary MQM's former worker Saulat Mirza awaits his execution in Machh Jail in Balochistan
MACHH: (Dunya News) – Former Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) worker Saulat Mirza, who awaits his execution in Machh Jail in Balochistan, has on Monday demanded one more week before execution in his last wish, reported Dunya News.
Expressing his last wish before the judicial magistrate of Machh Jail, Hidayat Ullah, Saulat Mirza demanded one more week to live so that he may beg for pardon from the family of the persons he murdered. However, Hidayatullah said that he did not have the authority to fulfill this demand.
On the other hand, Machh jail administration has completed preparations for Saulat Mirza’s execution. He will be hanged at 4:30 am on Tuesday. Saulat Mirza’s family met him for the last time today at Machh Jail. His brothers, sisters, nephews and nieces were present on this occasion.
It is pertinent to mention here that Saulat Mirza had been sentenced to death in 1999 for the murders of 3 including MD KESC Shahid Hamid. High Court and Supreme Court had rejected the petitions later filed against the decision. Saulat Mirza then filed a review petition but it was also rejected. He filed a mercy plea before the president after that but it was also rejected and the Anti-Terror Court (ATC) issued his death warrant for March 19. However, a video recording of Saulat Mirza surfaced afterwards in which he alleged that he had killed all of them upon the orders of the MQM leadership. His execution was delayed after this video surfaced.
ATC again issued death warrant on April 1 but the government postponed his execution. Finally death warrants were issued by the ATC for May 12 for the third time. He will now be hanged at 4:30 pm in the morning and Frontier Corps (FC) officials have been deployed at the Machh Jail to tighten its security.
