Summary Employees protested against Privatization commission and LESCO management talks, blocked main gate
LAHORE: (Dunya News) – Lahore electric Supply Company (LESCO) employees on Monday protested against the proposed privatization of LESCO. The employees protested against the talks between Privatization Commission and LESCO management over proposed privatization of the company and blocked the main gate by holding sit-in, reported Dunya News.
According to details, negotiations were to be held between the LESCO management and the advisor and other officials of the Privatization Commission but large number of Wapda hydroelectric union members arrived at LESCO’s head office in Lahore blocked the main gate of the head office by holding a sit-in.
Employees bitterly criticized government’s privatization policy and raised slogans on this occasion. They resolved that they would never let the national assets of electric companies be sold to the private sector.
Sources claim that the Privatization Commission officials have scheduled 4 days of meetings with the LESCO officials and Wapda Hydroelectric Union has also decided to block the negotiations by holding sit-in at the main gate of the LESCO head office on all 4 days.
