Summary Speaker holds the right to bar any member from attending the sessions, says Sindh Assembly Speaker

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani on Monday has said that Karachi Electric (K-Electric) and the Water Board is responsible for the scarcity of water in Karachi.

He expressed these views while talking to the media before the assembly session.

He said that the entire province is facing water shortage. Durrani called for legislation against the water Board authorities. Board’s machinery is rusty and old, he added. He stressed the need to replace the old machinery with a new one.

While answering a question, the speaker said that Shehryar Mehr has a difference of opinion with him and that is why he tore the agenda’s copy. He said that reference has been sent to the law department against the members who have no respect for the assembly.

If Mehr wants to approach a court, he should, he added. Durrani said that the speaker holds the right to bar any member from attending the sessions. He said that the potable water issue should not be used for political purposes in the local body (LB) elections.
