KARACHI (Dunya News) – Police personnel on Monday declared assassination of assistant professor Waheed-ur-Rehman of Karachi University as blind murder, Dunya News reported.
Police failed to collect evidences in the murder case despite receiving forensic report of weapons used to slain the professor.
The investigation officer has revealed that the bullet shells don’t match any incident whereas the data collected from the deceased’s laptop is also of no use.
On the other hand, police have released as many as four people arrested to probe into the matter.
Earlier, an assistant professor of the University of Karachi was shot dead in Federal B. area on April 29, Dunya News reported.
Dr. Syed Waheed-ur-Rahman was killed when unidentified gunmen riding a motorcycle opened fire on his car. The suspects managed to flee the scene soon after the attack.
The victim was an instructor at the Mass Communication department.
In protest against the incident, university students blocked main road and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits. Educational activities at the university were also suspended.
The police also released a sketch of the suspect involved in his murder. The new development in the murder case that occurred in the vicinity of Yousaf Plaza Federal B area was made with the help of eyewitness reports. According to these reports, the assailant’s age is said to be around 30 to 35 years.
The suspect is stated as having a dark complexion and height of more than 5 ft 2 inches. Police stated that the hunt for suspects involved in the killing has begun.
