Summary Mirza doesn't trust the police and yet wants security by the same institution, says judge
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday has ordered former home minister Zulfiqar Mirza to surrender himself before the Sindh police by May 9. The court also ordered provision of security to Mirza.
A division bench comprising of Justice Sajjad Ali Shah and Justice Saeeduddin held hearing of the plea filed by Mirza’s counsel urging provision of security. Sindh Advocate General Abdul Fateh Malik said that there are at least five cases against Mirza and security is provided to the people who respect law and order. Mirza has his personal security, he added.
Jusitce Shah remarked, the court does not allow anybody to take the law in hands and the matter would proceed in accordance with the law. Mirza does not let anybody come near him and is asking for security, he added. To which Mirza’ counsel replied that they fear the former minister would be killed in a fake police encounter.
The judge said that Mirza doesn’t trust the police and yet wants security by the same institution. The counsel urged the court to order Hyderabad Deputy Inspector General (DIG) to take care of Mirza’s security.
However, the court ordered provision of security to Mirza and barred the authorities concerned from registering any further case against him until his surrender tomorrow.
