LAHORE (Dunya News) – Power shortfall on Friday has reached to 7,750 megawatt (MW) with unannounced power outage of nine hours in urban areas and 11 hours in rural areas due to escalated pressure on the electricity system, Dunya News reported.

According to NTDC sources, the electricity demand is 15,600 MW whereas the production is 10550 MW.

Sources say that power demand is gradually increasing due to warm weather whereas water outflow has not grown in big dams as a result of which hydroelectric production is not being raised.

Moreover, a technical fault has also been witnessed in the working of hydroelectric sources and a continuous breakdown of transformers has also been noted from several days.
