ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Former Chief Election Commission (CEC) Punjab Anwar Mehboob has on Thursday admitted sending additional ballot papers to polling stations during General Election 2013 before the Judicial Commission (JC), reported Dunya News.

While getting his statement recorded in JC, Anwar Mehboob was also question by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) lawyer Abdul Hafeez Pirzada. He told that the ballot papers are published on the basis of Form-5. He said that generally the polling material arrives at the polling stations around three days prior to the election but during 2013 general elections, polling material was not even complete by May 5.

Answering a question, Anwar Mehboob admitted that additional ballot papers were sent to some polling stations upon returning officers’ request.

When Hafeez Pirzada asked if anyone questioned him over delay in providing electoral material, Anwar Mehboob said that nobody questioned him over this issue. He said that the officials were informed about publishing additional ballot papers but no formal approval was taken.

PTI lawyer did several questions regarding various issues including purchase of additional papers but Anwar Mehboob said that he had no information regarding it.

After questioning, Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk directed Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) to present the list of witnesses by Monday and then adjourned the proceedings till Friday 8 am.
