ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - The Election Commission of Pakistan has de-notified Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Saad Rafique from NA-125 constituency of Lahore with immediate effect.

The step has been taken in the light of election tribunal’s May 4th decision.

The Railways Minister was unseated by the election tribunal after several irregularities were found in NA-125 polls during 2013 general elections.

Saad Rafique denied the accusations of irregularities, saying election organisers were responsible and he would challenge the ruling in the Supreme Court.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led by Imran Khan has for months alleged that PM Nawaz had rigged the May 2013 parliament elections. Khan s supporters staged an unsuccessful, over four-months-long sit-in outside the Parliament last year to press his demand that Nawaz Sharif resign and hold new elections.
