Summary The detailed verdict unseats Saad Rafique but also acquits him of planned rigging charges
LAHORE: (Web Desk, Dunya News) – Dunya News has received the copy of NA-125 detailed verdict in which Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) stalwart Khawaja Saad Rafique was unseated by the Election Tribunal in a landmark decision. The petition had been filed by Hamid Khan of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) who had remained runner-up in the contest for this seat in General Election 2013.
According to the detailed verdict, the tribunal said that there were serious irregularities in the election process and the Returning Officers (ROs) and Presiding Officers (POs) were unable to carry out their duties in accordance with the electoral code of conduct.
But at the same time, the tribunal also acquitted Khawaja Saad Rafique of rigging charges, maintaining that the irregularities were actually conducted by the ROs and no traces of any conspiracy by the candidate in this regard were found.
