Summary In court number three, at least 346 cases are pending and the court has issued notices

KARACHI (Dunya News) – More than 1,000 cases on Tuesday have been reported to be pending in the anti-terrorism courts (ATCs) due to noncooperation between provincial Interior Department Section Officer and Sindh Police.

According to the details, more than 1,000 cases are pending in the courts holding hearings of the anti-terrorism cases. At least 300 cases are scheduled for hearing everyday in these courts but in the given time only a few cases are heard. It is because of this that the lawyers are not satisfied with performances as these courts have been established for speedy trials.

At least 233 cases are pending in Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) number 1. The court has issued show-cause notices to as many as 15 investigation officers for not putting forth the challans of the cases. Whereas in court number three, at least 346 cases are pending and the court has issued notices to the Sindh Additional Inspector General (IG) of Police and Sindh Prosecutor General but they have not complied with the court’s directives.

In other courts, at least a sum of 190 cases is pending. The courts’ officials said that the Sindh Interior Department is not allowing holding hearings of most of these cases.
