ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) employees protested against the privatization of the company in various cities today (Wednesday), Dunya News reported.
According to details, Wapda and Lesco employees in Lahore took out a rally from Lahore Press Club to Chief Minister’s house.
The protesters were holding placards and banners and were chanting slogans against the proposed privatization of Wapda.
On reaching CM house Wapda hydroelectric Union addressed the protesters and vowed not to let the privatization of Wapda happen at any cost as it is not in national interests.
On the other hand, protest was also held in Rawalpindi where employees holding banners staged a protest rally from Commissioner House to Punjab House.
The protesters threatened of country-wide strike if the privatization process comes into being.
Moreover, heavy contingent of police was also deployed during the protests.
