ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Chairman Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) Allama Tahir Ashrafi has on Friday said that Pakistan, Egypt and Turkey can play the role of a mediator in the Yemen conflict. He said that the government must clarify its position in this regard, reported Dunya News.

Talking at a press conference in Islamabad, Tahir Ashrafi said that the war in Yemen can negatively impact the entire region. “Therefore, this issue must be resolved through talks“, he said.

Tahir Ashrafi said that a meeting of the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) should be called to discuss the Yemen issue. He said that Saudi Arabia has always helped Pakistan in the hour of need. He said that Pakistan should also clearly state its policy in case Saudi soil is attacked.

Criticizing the National Action Plan, Tahir Ashrafi said that seminaries were being targeted in the name of this plan. He demanded Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan to form a committee for investigating this issue.
