Summary committee formed to investigate the alleged rigging in 2013 elections
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Judicial Commission formed to investigate alleged rigging in 2013 elections has summoned recommendations from political parties on Thursday. The recommendations are to be submitted till 15 April, reported Dunya News.
The three-bench committee formed to investigate the alleged rigging held its first meeting under Chief Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk.
In the meeting, further course of action was elaborated and it was decided to take recommendations of all political parties involved in 2013 elections.
The decision to obtain recommendations from the political parties is in accordance with article 5 sub-section (b) of Inquiry Commission Ordinance 2015.
According to the provision, the commission can demand evidence, materials and documents from concerned persons.
The recommednations along with relevant evidence are to be submitted to Secretary Election Commission till 15 April.
Committee’s first open hearing will convene on 15 April in Court number 1. All persons appearing before the committee will have to submit a certificate verifying his affiliation with the given party.
Party affiliation certificate will have to be signed by the party chief, it is learned.
Chief Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk’s secretary Muhammad Hamid Ali has been appointed as Secretary judicial commission.
All political parties are bound to present evidence before Secretary till 15 April.
