Summary Production cost of units was increasing as they have reached maximum production life

KARACHI (Dunya News) – National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) approved to shut down 3 production units of K-Electric on Wednesday.

According to NEPRA these production units had maximum life of 30 to 42 years of production which they had reached and the production cost of the units was increasing.

NEPRA made the amendment in the license of K-Electric on the application of the company and it will result in ceasing the production of 175 megawatt of electricity. K-Electric will shut down Unit number 1 and 2 of Korangi station that produce 150 megawatt electricity, while the site unit which makes 25 megawatt electricity, will also be shut down.
