KARACHI (Dunya News) – The Anti-Terrorism court on Friday extended physical remand of 7 workers of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) party for another 14 days whereas the remand of 2 suspects accused of murdering three people was refused, Dunya News reported.

The police and Rangers brought 7 suspects arrested from MQM center Nine-Zero to the Anti-Terrorism Court in armoured vehicles. The suspects are identified as Faizan, Mumtaz, Wajihul Rehman, Rizwan Ali, Tofeeq, Naeem and Zubair alias Burger.

The suspects were brought in at 11am but the Honourable Judge Anand Ram ordered to bring the suspects in at 2pm. After the hearing resumed, the defence lawyers and the judge had heated arguments after which the judge ordered defence lawyers as well as lawyers of the Rangers to get out of the chambers.

The court handed over the suspects to Joharabad, Sir Syed and Sharifabad police stations on extension of 14-day remand.

The court, however, refused remand for suspects Rizwan and Tofeeq accused of murdering three persons and ordered the investigating officer to contact the concerned Magistrate.

The Azizabad Police Station officials told the court that the suspects killed three men after opening fire at a hotel but the court maintained its stance that a remand of the suspect who is not named in the FIR cannot be given.
