ATC sends 26 suspects including MQM's Amir Khan on 90-day remand

Summary Cases have been registered against all the suspects arrested from Nine Zero.

KARACHI (Web Desk) – An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Thursday handed 26 suspects including Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Amir Khan into Rangers’ custody on 90-day remand, Dunya News reported.

The suspects were blindfolded and only Amir Khan was handcuffed when they were brought to the court.



A heavy contingent of security forces had arrested all the suspects during raid on MQM’s famous Nine-Zero administrative centre in Azizabad area on Wednesday.

One of the men detained had been sentenced to death for the murder of the television journalist Wali Khan Babar in 2011, according to a Rangers statement.

Rangers had acted on an intelligence tipoff and recovered illegal assault rifles and other heavy weapons from the political party s office.

Later, all the weapons including five G3 rifles, twenty three heavy and light machine guns, twenty five 222 rifles, five telescopes, thirty six walkie talkies and two bullet-proof vests were handed over to the police.

Authorities have also withdrew policemen deployed at thirteen locations around the Nine Zero.
