KARACHI (Dunya News) – At least three policemen including Assistant Sub-inspector (ASI) were killed in two separate incidents of firing by terrorists – one near Gul Plaza and another at Pakistan Chowk, Dunya News reported.
According to the details, armed gunmen opened firing at police mobile van near Gul Plaza area of Karachi which resulted in killing of two cops including an ASI and injury of another two. Those killed were identified as ASI Riazat Ali Shah and Saeed whereas the wounded cops as Rashid and Jehanzaib.
The cop killed in another crossfire that took place at Pakistan Chowk was identified as Shakeel. The police and rescue teams reached the crime soon as soon as the news about the incident surfaced.
Those wounded were rushed to hospital where they are being given necessary medical treatment.
Additional Inspector General (AIG) Karachi Ghulam Qadir Thebo said while talking to media that the attacks appear to be an attempt to demoralize the police.
He said that both attacks have similarities, adding that 9MM pistol was used in the attack. He told that the number of terrorists who opened fire was 4 who were riding two motorcycles.
