KARACHI (Dunya News) -- The teachers of primary schools took to the roads to protest against one year delay in payment of their salaries, blocking MA Jinnah road to register their protest.
The protestors displayed placards and raised slogans against the officers concerned.
The female protestors claimed that all the teachers of Sindh were getting their salaries on time barring Karachi, inquiring the reason as to why they weren’t getting paid on time.
Upon hearing about the roadblock, the city police reached the spot to arrange negotiation between the teachers and the reform support unit.
Talking to the media, General Secretary of Teacher Action Committee Yahya Khan said he did not a see a solution in sight as the authorities were merely stalling under one pretense or another. He added that the authorites were passing the buck to other departments.
The primary school teachers appealed to the higher authorities to pay their dues, adding that the failure to comply with demands will result in a protest outside Chief Minister house.
