PTI files plea in IHC to stop election of Senate's chairman, deputy chairman

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) has submitted a petition in Islamabad High Court (IHC) today (Monday) to defer the selection of chairman and deputy chairman Senate, Dunya News reported.

According to PTI Information Secretary Shireen Mazari, election for chairman and deputy chairman Senate has been challenged in the IHC.

The petition contended that the election is not possible before FATA’s senate election whereas Islamabad’s Senator Raheela Magsi also cannot take part in the elections of chairman and deputy chairman Senate, therefore, the election should be suspended in the absence of FATA members and Senator Raheela Magsi.

IHC has fixed the petition for hearing tomorrow under the supervision of Justice Athar Amanullah and Justice Amir Farooq.
