ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Professor Dr Shahid Nawaz on Friday succumbed to injuries after battling for life for six days, Dunya News reported.

Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences’ (PIMS) Vice Chancellor Professor Javed confirmed the death of Dr Shahid and said that Dr Shahid was kept alive using machines for almost a week.

According to the details, Dr Shahid’s medical records were shared with medical experts in the United States but the US doctors said that treatment is not possible as he received bullets on right side of the brain and there was a bullet still inside which effectively rendered him as brain dead.

Dr Shahid Nawaz was shot in the head by unidentified gunmen on February 14 just when he was coming out of the hospital after performing a surgery.

He was rushed to CMH Hospital in Rawalpindi where he fought for life for six days

Dr Shahid was expert cardiologist and was among the senior most surgeons in the country.
