Power tariff likely to be reduced by Rs3.20 per unit

Summary CPPA has sought adjustments of variation incurred in the fuel cost for power generation last month.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) is likely to cut electricity tariff by Rs3.20 per unit, Dunya News reported.

The regulator is expected to finalise the new tariff while hearing the plea of Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) on Tuesday.

The CPPA, in its plea, has stated fuel cost on power generation was recorded at Rs6.32 per unit, while reference fuel cost was set at Rs9.53 per unit.

It was also mentioned that fuel cost for power generation with furnace oil was registered at Rs12.38 per unit, gas Rs3.57 per unit, coal Rs4.49 per unit, nuclear at Rs1.18 per unit, diesel Rs19.8 per unit, and electricity cost of imported Iranian electricity was recorded at Rs10.20 per unit in December.
