ASWJ stages sit-in outside Supreme Court over leader's killing

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) workers on Sunday staged a sit-in protest outside Supreme Court building over the killing of spokesman Mazhar Siddiqui, Dunya News reported.

According to the details, the police started to stop the protesters but they succeeded in reaching outside the Supreme Court along with the dead body of the slain leader.

Mazhar Siddiqui was killed as result of firing by two attackers who were riding a motorbike and opened the fire on Siddiqui’s vehicle.

Siddiqui received six bullets whereas another man in the vehicle Muhammad Ibrahim was critically wounded.

ASWJ workers announced to hold the funeral prayer of the deceased leader at Lal Masjid but later took the dead body outside the Supreme Court to stage the sit-in protest.

The police sealed the roads leading to Supreme Court in a bid to stop the demonstrators but they succeeded in reaching there after removing the barriers.

The demonstrators and the police clashed near Nadra Chowk and the police used the tear gas to disperse the crowd; however, the protestors succeeded in reaching the Supreme Court.

ASWJ’s new spokesperson asked the Chief Justice to take notice of the killing.
