ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday has issued directives for completion of power projects within the given time frame. He said that the people responsible for delay in power projects must gear up to face consequences.

He expressed these views while chairing a meeting of the Senate committee of power.

He said that the supply of electricity on lowered rates in government’s top priority. The PM said that the government is making all out efforts to reduce electricity outages. WAPDA Chairman Zafar Mehmood briefed the meeting about the Neelum-Jehlum Power Project. The meeting was told that at least 70 percent of the project is complete. This project would produce more electricity than Mangla Power Project, he added.

The Secretary Water and Power gave a presentation to the meeting regarding the pending dues to be recovered from customers and the losses. He said that the department has taken necessary steps to limit losses. The PM issued directives to complete the Neelum-Jehlum project on time without any delay.
