ATC issues arrest warrants for five witnesses in Benazir Bhutto murder case

RAWALPINDI (Web Desk) - An anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi has issued arrest warrants for five witnesses of the prosecution in Benazir Bhutto murder case, Dunya News reported on Wednesday.

 

ATC Judge Pervez Ismail Joya heard the case at Adiyala Jail in Rawalpindi.

The court issued arrest warrants for the witnesses including FIA Deputy Director Khalid Jameel, Inspector FIA Nisar Jadoon, Inspector FIA Abdul Razzaq Meerani, DPO Jaffarabad Ashfaq Anwar and ex-SSP Javed Khan for not appearing before the court despite notices issued to them.

The court ordered police that the five witnesses be arrested and produced before in the next hearing.

Subsequently, the case hearing was adjourned till February 9.

Benazir Bhutto was murdered in a suicide attack minutes after she addressed an election rally in Rawalpindi in 2007.

The anti-terrorism court is conducting the trial of suspects who have been charged with planning and facilitating the assassination.
