DERA BUGTI (Dunya News) – Deaths attributed to whooping cough mounted to 13 in a span of 16 days in Dera Bugti as three more children died on Monday.
As many as 11 deaths were confirmed in Peer Koh while the deceased include one and a half year old Fatah Khan, one year old Ali, Dar Bibi, Sher Bibi, Zulekha, Javed, Maryam, Umer Khan, Mahreef, Ramzan and a two-year old Farooq.
Talking to Dunya News team, people lamented the death of their children whereas the only dispenser, Sabz Ali Bugti, working at the Basic Health Unit revealed that population of Peer Koh is estimated to be 20 thousand while he is the only dispenser in town and can provide vaccination to only 5% of the population.
Locals told Dunya News that the media is focused on the deaths in Tharparker alone and if due attention will not be given to the situation of whooping cough, significant human tragedies might arise.
