KARACHI/LAHORE (Dunya News) – Nationwide protests against French magazine were staged on Sunday for carrying insulting caricatures. The demonstrators said that insult of religions and prophets in the name of freedom of expression will not be tolerated, Dunya News reported.

A massive rally was led by Jamaat Islami in Karachi from Federal Urdu University to Hassan Square in which a large number of people including women and children participated.

Jamaat chief appealed to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif during his address to summon an All Parties Conference (APC).

The participants of the rally led by Jamaat also included various political and religious leaders.

Jamaat leaders demanded the United Nations to legislate to protect honour of all prophets and religious personalities.

Elsewhere, the demonstrations continued in many cities across the country. The demonstrators said that the insult of prophets and religions in the name of freedom of expression will not be tolerated.

Another rally took place in Lahore under Jamaat’s leadership that started at Nasir Bagh and ended at Punjab Assembly.

Addressing the participants, the speakers demanded Europe to stop hurting sentiments of Muslims.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) also led a rally outside Lahore Press Club. Various journalistic organizations installed camps at Charing Cross Lahore.

Women led a rally in Gujranwala in which they recited Naats and Nasheeds.

Other rallies included the one by JUI-F and Markazi Jamaat Ahle-e-Sunnat.
