LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Punjab government on Thursday has initiated the process of registration of madarris (religious institutions). Any institution that resists getting registered will be shut down.

There are more than 5,000 institutions in the province which are not registered. The supervision of the matter has been given to the Industry Department.

According to the sources, the institutions which resist getting registered will be closed down. The institutions are supposed to apply for registration upon which the Industry District Officer will have those institutions examined through police and the institutions whose police reports are not satisfactory, would not be registered.
