Summary The solutions to the tensions between Pakistan and India are possible only through talks, says Kerry
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – United States (US) secretary of state John Kerry on Tuesday has said that US acknowledges Pakistan’s all-out efforts to counter terrorism. He said that all banned outfits including Haqqani network and Lashkare Taiba are not Pakistan’s enemies but the enemies of the world.
He expressed these views in a joint press conference with Advisor to Prime Minister (PM) on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz after the strategic talks in the Foreign Office (FO).
He said that the world admires the efforts of Pakistan to end terrorism after the attack on Army Public School (APS) in Pakistan. He assured that US would carry on supporting Pakistan on every platform for the elimination of terrorism. He announced a humanitarian aid of at least $25 crore for the rehabilitation of the people in the terrorism-hit areas including North Waziristan after the launch of Operation Zarb-e-Azb.
Kerry also said that the solutions to the tensions between Pakistan and India are possible only through talks.
On the occasion, Sartaj Aziz said that the Pakistan Army has destroyed the command and control centre of the Haqqani network. He said that Pakistan is conducting an indiscriminate operation among all the banned outfits. Aziz said that there is no question of holding of talks with India without Kashmir.
Moreover, the meeting in the FO not only reviewed the performance of the working groups established for different sectors of both the countries but also expressed a resolve to continue the Pakistan-America cooperation in coming years.
John Kerry has come to Pakistan on a two-day visit in which he met the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) in the General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi and the political leadership of the country. Earlier, the PM had also hosted a dinner in honour of the US secretary of state.
