LAHORE (Dunya News) – The United States (US) department of state on Tuesday has designated Mullah Fazlullah, commander of banned outfit Tehrik-i-Taliban (TTP) as specially designated global terrorist.

According to the media note of the state department, the executive order in accordance to which TTP commander has been specially designated, targets terrorists and all those who provide support to terrorists and acts of terror.

The special designation restrains any US citizen to have transactions with Fazlullah and enables US to freeze any property owned by the terrorist in US or comes in possession of US or any US citizen.

According to the state department’s media note, Fazlullah was elected as TTP commander in November 2013 after former TTP commander Hakimullah Mehsud was killed.

TTP had attacked the Army Public School (APS) Peshawar in Fazlullah’s leadership on December 16 2014 which killed at least 148 people, mostly students. Before Fazlullah became the commander, he had claimed to have killed Pakistani Army Major General Sanaullah Niazi in September 2013.
