KARACHI (Dunya News) – Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday summoned the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and relevant Superintendent Police (SP) by rejecting Karachi Water & Sewerage Board’s (KWSB) report on illegal hydrants in Karachi.

The case of illegal hydrants was heard at Karachi registry of SC in which KWSB presented a report denying the presence of any illicit hydrants in Karachi and central districts.

The court further rebuffed the report and called on DIG and SSP to present facts over the case.

Earlier, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk on Tuesday has ordered an instant hearing by taking a suo moto notice against the illegal hydrants in Karachi.

As per details, a suo moto action has been taken by considering the petitions of Human Rights Cell, which will be heard at Karachi registry of SC in this week.

It is pertinent to mention here that the unauthorized hydrants have not only created water shortfall but have also caused various environmental and health issues.

Moreover, illicit hydrants have also disrupted the system of KWSB.
