Meeting of judges to be summoned regarding implementation of death penalties: CJP

Summary A condolence reference for the victims of the Peshawar attack was held by Peshawar High Court.

PESHAWAR (Web Desk) – Chief Justice of Pakistan Nasirul Mulk on Thursday remarked that a meeting of judges will be summoned regarding implementation of death sentences for convicted terrorists, Dunya News reported.

The Chief Justice gave these remarks during visit to Peshawar High Court. He also offered fateha for victims of Tuesday’s terrorist attack on Army Public School in the city.

On the occasion, Justice (retd) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry remarked that the lifting of the moratorium on death sentences will help in controlling criminal activity in the country.

He said that despite mercy appeals of approximately 400 convicts being dismissed, the cases were still pending.
