Summary Coalition Support Fund under new conditions would not exceed 1 billion dollars
WASHINGTON: (Dunya News) – United States of America (USA) Congress has extended the military aid to Pakistan under Coalition Support Fund by 1 year. Coalition Support Fund under new conditions will not exceed 1 billion dollars, Dunya News reported. US bears the expenses of Pakistan’s war against terrorists.
Although the US Congress has added the extension of one year in Pakistan’s military aid to its final budget recommendations but a few new conditions have also been added. New conditions say that the total amount would not exceed 1 billion dollars.
Furthermore, US Foreign Secretary’s prerogative to issue funds up to 300 million dollars without Congress’s approval has also been removed. Pakistan will have to convince US Foreign Ministry and Congress that it will eliminate Haqqani Network’s safe havens in its action in North Waziristan Agency (NWA). She will also have to convince the US Congress that free movement of the extremists has been curbed.
Moreover, Pakistan will also have to prove that it is taking necessary steps to ensure that Haqqani Network doesn’t get strong foothold in NWA again.
The previous conditions have also been upheld in the new agreement. Pakistan received the last installment in October when the US had provided her with 371 million dollars for war on terror.
