Summary The government has formed a four-member committee of doctors to look into the matter
LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Punjab government on Thursday has formed a committee to probe the matter of the children who are suffering from thalassemia and likely to have Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).
The government has also decided to hold a crackdown against the organisations who rely on unsafe methods of transfusion of blood.
Earlier, Dr Javeria Manan of the Thalassemia Society of Pakistan had revealed that some thalassemic children have been found to have HIV positive.
She said that such children get their required amount of blood from various organisations and out of those, some rely on unsafe methods for blood transfusion which is why some children are HIV positive.
After this the government has formed a four-member committee of doctors headed by Dr Mehfoozul Rehman to look into the matter.
