ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) on Tuesday has ordered Federation and Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to submit their reply for not  implementing court s order on electoral reforms case.

Justice Saqib Nisar enraged over the issue of electoral reforms and said that the court is not a laundry to remove political grime.

He warned the Federation and ECP that elections of 2014 would be revoked or a contempt notice would also be issued in case of not implementing court’s order.

He stated that Pakistan has been taken in the name of democracy and democracy is based on transparent elections so a strong legislature is needed to inspect the electoral system.

On the other hand, the lawyer of ECP Munir Paracha added that the court doesn’t have authority to give suggestion of legislation on electoral reforms.

Dissenting with the statement of ECP lawyer, Justice Saqib said that if you don’t like the SC decision, you can inform the Attorney General.

However, the court has adjourned the hearing till the second week of January and directed the Federation and ECP to submit their reply on this issue.
