KARACHI (Dunya News) – At least seven minor girls recovered from a house in Liaqatabad were handed over to their parents by police on Thursday after complete verification, Dunya News reported.

Police have declared the case of 26 recovered minor girls as a dispute between a borrower and a lender.

Family members of minor girls reached to fetch them after the news broke.

Police officers have handed over seven girls to their parents after verification whereas other girls have been shifted to Darul Banat, a shelter house of social welfare department.

According to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) west, member of assembly Shahbuddin has also arrived in Karachi and urged the government to nab the culprits involved in the matter of at least 26 minor girls from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK).

Moreover, Provincial Minister of Sindh Rubina Qaimkhani accused female teacher Hameeda of leading madrassa illicitly and assured a strict action against her.

Earlier, police on a tip-off, conducted raid at a house in Liaquatabad area and recovered 33 minor girls. All the girls, aged between 8 and 10, were brought to Karachi from Bajaur Agency.

According to the police officer, the girls can only speak Pashto and cannot speak Urdu.

Reportedly, the girls were under the supervision of a female teacher named Hameeda in a Madrassa.

Police have also taken two women into custody from the house for interrogation.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Central Nauman Siddiqui, Ayub borrowed Rs 2 lacs from Hameeda and failed to pay it back as promised. So she handed over 26 female students to the debtor stating that he is responsible for their expenses now if he cannot pay her debt.

While talking to the media in Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Central Office, he said that a 4-member committee has been formed to probe the matter.
