Summary ROs issue notices to all the candidates including Imran Khan and Ayaz Sadiq.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Session Court on Tuesday ordered to probe the records of constituency NA-122 on November 20 whereas the Returning Officers (ROs) issued notices to all the candidates including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan and Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in reference to examination of electoral rigging in NA-122.
ROs had previously initiated the checking but the process was stopped after the records for national and provincial assemblies were recovered from the same bag. Election Commission has asked to resume examination on November 20.
Earlier today, Lahore High Court (LHC) reserved its judgment over the case of constituency NA-122.
Ayaz Sadiq had submitted a plea to impede the examination of election tribunal. Justice Ejaz ul Haq of LHC heard the case.
Lawyer of Speaker NA informed the court that Imran Khan has challenged the electoral results of the constituency in election tribunal.
He further said documents were not annexed with the petition, which is a violation of Public Representation Act. Election tribunal should therefore declare the examination null and void.
On the other hand, Imran Khan’s lawyer told the court that record rigging was witnessed in NA-122 and that the documents have been presented before the tribunal through electoral rigging petition, the examination should continue and a quick decision should therefore be made.
The court reserved its decision after hearing out arguments from both sides.
