Summary Qazi did not get married because of his strong affiliation with the party
MULTAN (Dunya News) – A resident of Khanewal district s Kabirwala Tehsil, Mehr Muhammad Asghar Qazi on Thursday locked himself up in a cage in front of Multan Press Club to demonstrate a protest for not getting to meet Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif.
Details have it that Qazi is a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) staunch supporter for around 25 years and did not get married because of his strong affiliation with the party.
Qazi used to correspond with Nawaz Sharif through letters to inquire about his well being, when the PM was exiled. He not only used all his savings for party s welfare but had also faced prison time during Musharraf era.
He warned the PM of committing suicide in front of the Parliament if Nawaz Sharif does not meet him.
However, police took the protester to police station and tortured him, after which Qazi’s brothers, Qasim and Iqbal Hussain reached there and protested against the behavior of the police officials.
He was released after four hours of being in police custody.
Following the report, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif invited Qazi to Lahore.
