Summary The ill-fated bus was traveling from Swat to Karachi when the accident occurred near Khairpur.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – A case regarding Khairpur road accident has been registered against National Highway Authority (NHA) at Shah Hussain Police Station on behalf of SHO Amir Khan.
Section 337, 322 and 427 have been included in the First Information Report (F.I.R).
It was mentioned in the F.I.R that the National Highway Authority committed negligence during construction of the road, due to which the accident occurred.
Earlier, Motorway Police had mentioned in the initial report that a 65-kilometre stretch of the road was in poor condition. In this regard, at least six letters were forwarded to the National Highway Authority (NHA), however, no concrete step was taken from their side.
At least 58 people, including 18 children, were killed on Tuesday when a bus collided with a goods truck near the city of Khairpur, 450 kilometres (300 miles) north of Karachi, the capital of southern Sindh province.
Pakistan has an appalling record of fatal traffic accidents due to poor roads, badly maintained vehicles and reckless driving. Crashes killing dozens of people are not uncommon.
