Summary PTI filed petition to not allocate election symbols to parties that did not hold party elections.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Lahore High Court served notices to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan People’s party (PPP) and Jamat-e-Ullema-Fazl (JUI-F) on Tuesday for not holding intra-party elections.
Stance maintained in the petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) stated that PML-N, PPP and JUI-F did not conduct party elections, which is violation of the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP’s) regulations; ECP should therefore not allot election symbols to these parties in the next elections.
Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah issued notices to all the parties and adjourned the case hearing till December 10.
Earlier, LHC had declared petition to ban PPP, PML-N and JUI-F for not holding party elections admissible on October 29.
Vice President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Lawyer’s Wing Gohar Nawaz Sindhu filed a petition on October 28 at LHC to ban PPP, PML-N and JUI-F for not holding party elections, which is a clear violation of Party Act.
