RAHIM YAR KHAN (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Thursday was denied permission to hold scheduled rally at the planned venue Government Khawaja Farid College by the city administration owing to the ‘security risk’, Dunya News reported.

According to the details, the administration has raised objections citing holding political rallies in educational institutes and hospitals being forbidden along with the security risk.

PTI workers mainly of the local chapter protested against the city administration’s move and announced the resolve to hold the planned rally on November 9 at the same venue.

The District Coordination Officer (DCO) sent the decision to the PTI’s chapter on behalf of the city administration.

PTI had sought permission to hold public rally at Government Khawaja Farid College’s ground on November 9.

In the DCO’s letter, it was said that the venue is of high risk because of adjacent hospital, emergency center and district jail.

Following the denial, PTI’s local workers and administration reached the venue where they chanted heavy amount of slogans against the administration. Upon arrival of police’s contingent, PTI workers lashed out on the police vehicle and exchanged harsh words.

Holding an emergency press conference, PTI’s local president Rana Raheel said that PTI will hold the rally as planned in any case. They said that former Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has held a rally at the same venue previously.
