LAHORE (Dunya News) – Director General (DG) Rangers Khan Tahir Javed said that the suicide bomber attempted to breach the security cordon but failed and therefore blew himself up outside the circle. The forensics have recovered limbs and body parts allegedly belonging to the attackers, Dunya News reported.

Talking to the media, DG Rangers said that the attacked site is 50 yards away from the point where visitors are searched.

He told that three Rangers personnel who were deployed at the security barrier are also among those dead.

DG Rangers said that it was due to the beefed up security that the attacker could not enter the circle, adding that the loss of life would have much more grave had the attacker entered the secured circle.

At least 55 were killed and over 125 were injured including women and children when a suicide bomber attacked the packed parking area outside the busy Wagah Border.
