Pakistan Railways to provide insurance for passengers, employees

Summary Compensation of Rs 8 lakh will be provided in case of death and Rs 3 lakh in case of injury

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Railways on Saturday decided to provide insurance for passengers and employees. The federal minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique said that Rs 1 billion has been added to the target of passenger trains, Dunya News reported.

A meeting headed by Saad Rafique took place at Railway headquarters in Lahore in which key decisions were made.

One such decision was to insure passengers and employees. According to the details, an individual will be compensated with Rs 8 lakh in case of death and Rs 3 lakh in case of injury.

Saad Rafique said that revenue target of railways has also been raised. He said the target of revenue of cargo trains is now from Rs 6.3 billion to 7 billion.
